ABOUT THE ACT SYSTEM

The Act System

Built on thousands of hours of research and teaching experience, The ACT System is the only systematic and step-by-step ACT prep method available to students today.

The key here is the word 'systematic.' Let me explain!

Most ACT prep on the market today (in the form of tutors, tutoring centers, books, prep classes, and so on) is topical, meaning they teach (if you can call it "teaching") from this or that topic to this or that topic, covering as much ACT prep material as possible in no particular order.

In these situations, a student will learn about (using ACT English as an example) the two uses of a semicolon, the four uses for commas, subject/verb agreement, and so on.

The problem is this: none of these grammatical topics in English teaches students how to think through the most asked type of ACT English question (nor the second most asked!).

What if there was a method that taught the most important skills, strategies, or content first, the second most important second (while reinforcing the first), the third most important third (while reinforcing the first and second), and so on in a way that students appreciate and actually understand (step by step)?

This is The ACT System.

ABOUT MR. PHILIP MARTIN

Allow me to introduce myself!

My name is Philip Martin, and I am an ACT Certified Educator from Daphne, AL. While there are a plethora of good tutors when it comes to preparation for the ACT, many of them are proficient in one area or another (English/Reading/Writing or Math/Science for example). I, on the other hand, display a proficiency in all areas tested by the ACT, and have over 1,000 (yes, a 1 followed by three 0's) hours of in-classroom ACT prep experience, not including countless hours of research into, and writing about, the ACT!

Not only have I taught mathematics at the high school level, but I have a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Cum Laude, from Auburn University. I also earned an M.A. in Theology, passing with the Distinction of Honors, from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. I am an award-winning educator of more than 12 years, an award-winning author, have published poetry, fiction, and non-fiction in print publications, and have worked as both a content and line editor for full length books and documentary films.

Most recently, I authored The ACT System series of textbooks, constructed from hundreds of hours of research and effort, which continue to contribute to the ACT successes of students across the country.

Why is all of this important?

Because it’s about your son or daughter.

As an experienced educator, I know how to professionally teach teenagers and even the importance of the small things, like learning names, leading with humor and good will, and earning trust. As a specialist in all areas of content, I can uniquely provide for my students the proper balance of content knowledge and review and strategic approach to each of the ACT’s subjects.
